Best Time to Trek

The best time to trek in Baltoro is around June to August, this time of the year the weather is less cold and most days are sunny days, I would even recommend it in late May or early sept may the snow is still the problem and in September the weather is mostly cloudy, so if you want to enjoy the clear weather, it’s from June to August, also the chances of doing Gondogoro pass are more likely the condition of the snow is weather and as I mentioned it’s much easier to do it in a sunny day, you wouldn’t want also need more gear like the crampons and harnesses
Do your research before going

It’s better to have some geographical knowledge of the place before doing the trek, don’t depend on the guide, my honest opinion working in this industry is the guides are not very professional they lack communication and information regarding the mountains that surround them, its also good to know where you are going to have information it adds to adventure to see the Trango tower for the first time, the Mashabrum, and it is best to have a reliable map on your phone, usually its maps.me which has all the info about the trek.
Don’t expect Nepal

The tourism industry in Pakistan is as not efficient as in Nepal, most travelers have in their mind Nepal-like trek trails, and they expect the campsites to be the same as on the Everest basecamp, but it’s not the same story at all, the campsite can be a nightmare at times, you don’t have the facilities which are provided in Nepal, there are no cafes no shoe stores, the tour company mostly provides you everything you need, but always take an extra pair of shoes the trail is rugged and rough.
Choose your tour company carefully

Most of the clients choose the cheapest tour possible and expect it to provide everything, they are cheap for a reason, always take a review from past travelers to the k2 to give you their honest opinion, here you have to do your research, most tour companies they do everything in the beginning to attract a client but usually they don’t deliver what they promise, also the client chooses the cheapest tour company and expects everything if you want the cheapest so there is no need to complain you get what you paid for,
Fitness Preparation

Most trekkers’ biggest problem is altitude sickness, K2 basecamp is at around
5100m is higher than the highest mountain in Europe, so the acclimatization trek is important I think a trekker should do a trek of 4000m in Karakoram if he wants to make sure he does not have problems on the Baltoro trek, fitness is a key factor, maybe some cardio exercises would be beneficial a month or two before the trek. And stay hydrated Drink 3–4 liters of water per day Another main problem is a bad stomach in my experience these are the two main factors that a trekker is not able to make, the stomach is the key issue, don’t try to drink glacier water, use always filtered or boiled water, to make sure you do not have bad stomach, if you have problem with the local food or spices you should pack your food that’s the only solution if you are going with a tour expedition
Aim for Gondogoro la( 5,585 meters )

going back the same way in trekking is always boring and it becomes monotous, 2 days from conordia ascenting the Gondogoro la can be challenging a bit but it is worth the effort if you doing ok till the 5000 meters you go for the pass, on the top of Gondogoro pass you see a all 4 8 thousand meter peaks, with a different view, the view from the top is surreal and its worth the ascent, once you ascent the pass and descend down to the other side, its totally different terrain you end up in green pasture near to the beautiful laila peak basecamp, from there its much shorter trek towards the jeep ride
